Veteran Roselle Baliton repaid the trust placed in her by Galeries Tower with a performance to remember in the biggest upset yet in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.
The lone seasoned player retained by the Highrisers during their massive offseason roster reset, the middle blocker led the club to a 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, shocker over loaded erstwhile unbeaten Nxled on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Baliton dropped 16 points from seven attacks, seven blocks, and two aces.
Her efforts earned her the unanimous nod as the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live for the period of 17 to 21 February.
“We’ve been through a lot. So, hopefully it could be the start of the team developing a winning culture,” said Baliton, who stuck with the team despite being in the league’s cellar in the past conferences.
Baliton edged Creamline’s Jia De Guzman, Capital1’s Bella Belen, PLDT’s Majoy Baron, and Farm Fresh’s Trisha Tubu for the weekly honor deliberated by print and online reporters covering the pioneering professional volleyball league organized by Sports Vision.
With this big-time victory against Nxled, Galeries Tower leveled its win-loss record to 2-2. For Baliton, this just shows that when the team is on the same page, anything’s possible.
“It’s all because of team effort. It shows we can accomplish anything if the team works together and be on the same page. The ball is around, as they say, anything is possible,” she said.
Galeries will look to build from the big win when it takes on skidding Choco Mucho on Thursday.
