Some 1,200 illegal mufflers were destroyed by the police at the Pampanga Provincial Police Office in the City of San Fernando, Pamoanga on 23 February 2026.
According to Pampanga PPO Provincial Director Police Col. Eugene M. Marcelo, this is a significant step towards ensuring a safer and more harmonious environment for the residents of Pampanga.
"The destruction of the 1,200 confiscated illegal mufflers is more than just a routine enforcement activity; it is a heartfelt commitment to community safety, well-being, and the preservation of our public spaces," he said.
The police stated that excessively noisy mufflers have long been a source of frustration for many, disrupting peace and affecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Marcelo expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by residents: "We empathize with our community. Noise pollution can deeply impact daily life and mental-being. By removing these illegal mufflers, we aim to restore tranquility to our streets and ensure that every person in Pampanga can enjoy their right to a peaceful environment."
The disposed mufflers were confiscated during various operations aimed at enforcing laws that protect communities from disturbances and uphold public safety.
