2 arrested in West Kamias hospital shooting

The Quezon City Police District on Friday reported the arrest of two suspects allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Barangay West Kamias, Quezon City.

According to the victim’s account, he was on duty as a security guard at a hospital when two men approached him at around 1:50 a.m. on 19 February and allegedly attempted to kill him.

The victim sustained an injury to his left elbow after managing to evade several shots fired from a .45-caliber pistol.

Following the incident, he sought assistance from personnel of the Anonas Police Station, who tracked down the suspects as they attempted to flee on a motorcycle.

Authorities identified the suspects as alias “Robert,” 27, and alias “Ernesto,” 44, both non-residents of Quezon City.

Police recovered a firearm, 23 live rounds of ammunition, P23,000 in cash, the motorcycle used in the escape attempt and other personal belongings.

The motive for the shooting has yet to be disclosed.

The QCPD said the suspects will face charges of attempted murder, violation of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
