The Department of Public Works and Highways is seeking deeper ties with the private sector to help rebuild public trust in government and attract more investments to boost the economy.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the move forms part of the agency’s reform agenda to ensure integrity and transparency in all government infrastructure projects.
Dizon said it was the President’s directive for the DPWH to expand its partnerships with the business sector to ensure that the administration’s priority infrastructure projects are completed on time and deliver tangible benefits to Filipinos.
In line with the President’s directive, Dizon said the DPWH would establish a “green lane” to encourage legitimate and major construction firms to participate in bidding programs and help speed up the implementation of infrastructure projects.
He said the “green lane” program would be patterned after agreements implemented by the Board of Investments for investors and companies that qualify based on certain criteria.
Dizon added, "There's no reason why we can't do that in DPWH."
