Social media personality Jack Argota appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday after receiving a subpoena over the public circulation of what was purported to be President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s medical record.
Argota maintained his innocence, saying at the NBI’s Cybercrime Division office that the medical document being circulated was fake and unauthorized. He claimed the issue stemmed from attempts to gain online attention and "keep up with the trend."
During an earlier press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro suggested the incident could be part of alleged destabilization efforts against the current administration.
St. Luke’s Medical Center, meanwhile, clarified that it did not issue the document in question and underscored its strict compliance with patient confidentiality and data privacy policies.
NBI Spokesperson Palmer Mallari said Argota had initially been summoned last Friday but requested to appear on Wednesday instead.
The NBI previously announced it had filed a cyberlibel complaint against former broadcaster Jay Sonza and social media personality Eric Celiz for allegedly spreading false medical information about the President.
