The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has partnered with Rep. Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to strengthen postal services nationwide.
A Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed on 12 February 2026 formalized the collaboration, aiming to upgrade postal facilities and make public services more efficient and accessible.
PHLPost Acting Postmaster General and CEO Maximo C. Sta. Maria III, Board Chairman Atty. Kristjan Vicente Gargantiel, and Western Visayas Area 6 Director Donabel Asuncion joined Rep. Baronda of Iloilo City and DPWH Regional Director Engr. Denise Maria M. Ayag for the signing. The agreement emphasizes shared support for stronger public service institutions and better connectivity for communities.
Speaking on behalf of DPWH Secretary Vince Hizon, Engr. Ayag highlighted the department’s role in aligning infrastructure development with the needs of evolving postal services. Meanwhile, PHLPost Director Asuncion described the partnership as a milestone in the corporation’s modernization efforts, reflecting a coordinated approach to improving services on the ground.
Postmaster General Sta. Maria III said that despite the shift toward digital communication, postal services remain essential for daily transactions, deliveries, and connecting communities. “The post office remains a cherished institution, palangga, to generations of Filipinos,” he said.
The MOC outlines plans to enhance postal facilities and sustain long-term modernization across the national network, ensuring that PHLPost continues to provide reliable service for communities nationwide.
