CL police officer honored after sustaining wounds in encounter

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A police officer from Bongabon Municipal Police Station was formally recognized and provided assistance after being wounded during an armed encounter with robbery suspects on 17 February.

PSSg Jake Jacinto received the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (Medal of Wounded Gallantry) on Wednesday, following an incident that occurred during a dragnet operation.

Regional Director Rogelio Peñones personally visited PSSg Jacinto to present the medal and extend financial aid for his recovery. Additional support was also facilitated through the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. (PSMBFI), aiming to ensure comprehensive assistance for the officer.

"We want our officers to know we're here for them, especially when they're wounded in the line of duty," Peñones said, emphasizing the crucial importance of their morale and the institution's commitment to their welfare.

He elaborated that the ongoing strengthening of morale and welfare programs for personnel aligns with the national police chief's agenda to uphold public protection, peace and order, and professionalism, with efforts aimed at providing service that is honest, swift, and truly felt by the community.
