University of Perpetual Help System Dalta recovered from a sluggish start to post a 19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-7 victory over Jose Rizal University (JRU) in Season 101 National Collegiate Athletic Association boys volleyball tournament on Monday at the Arellano University gymnasium in Pasay City.

Team captain Gabriel Macatuno and Daryl Torio joined forces at the attack zone to lead the Junior Altas to their fifth win in six games in the country’s oldest collegiate league.

Torio scored a game-high 27 points built on 25 attacks, a block and an ace while Macatuno chipped in 13 markers, three blocks and two aces for an 18-hit output for Perpetual, which also drew solid numbers from Season 100 Finals Most Valuable Player John Lat and Cholo Bustamante.

Lat registered 12 points while Bustamante posted 10 markers to underscore the firepower of the Junior Altas at the offensive end.

On the other hand, John Oracion fired 17 points, two attacks and an ace for the Light Bombers, who failed to sustain their momentum in the crucial stretch after winning the first two sets en route to suffering their fourth loss in six matches.

In the girls division, Lyceum of the Philippines University beat La Salle Greenhills, 25-19, 25-18 while Letran College and Arellano pulled off masterful wins over Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19, and San Beda University, 25-20, 25-16, 30-28, respectively.
