Quezon Police reported that it tallied 179 arrests in its weeklong Anti-Criminality and Anti-Illegal Drug campaign this Monday.
The initiative, which spanned from February 8 to 14, was said to focus on cracking down on four distinct issues, along with other crimes in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District chief Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio shared that the district had detained 62 suspects linked to illegal drug-related activities over the past week.
Silvio added that through 51 anti-illegal drug operations, officers were able to seize P398,724 worth of illegal drugs.
The police district also nabbed 76 individuals who were wanted persons while arresting four other suspects for illegal possession of firearms.
An alias “Darwin” was apprehended by authorities from Masambong Police Station 2 for two counts of rape after six years of evading arrest.
In an effort to crack down on illegal gambling, the QCPD conducted 27 anti-gambling operations, confiscating P14,162 worth of betting money.
Through a statement, Silvio noted that the results of the campaign go beyond just the numbers, reflecting the district’s commitment to maintaining an orderly and peaceful community.
“These accomplishments are not merely numbers, they reflect our steadfast commitment to protect the people of Quezon City, sustain proactive law enforcement efforts, and ensure that our communities remain safe, secure, and peaceful,” he said.
