Bataan celebrates 81st anniversary of the Landing in Mariveles

The Province of Bataan celebrated the 81st anniversary of the Landing in Mariveles, held at the Landing in Mariveles Memorial Park on 15 February 2026.

The celebration included a Wreath Laying Ceremony and a 21-Gun Salute led by Mayor AJ Concepcion.

Vice Mayor Jesse Concepcion, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, OIC-Provincial Tourism Office Dr. Danica Lolita C. Tigas, and Veterans Federation of the Philippines Sons and Daughters National Executive Vice President Mike Villa-Real accompanied the mayor.

Also present were war veterans, barangay officials, and department heads and employees of the local government of Mariveles.

Renowned Filipino historian Dr. Ricardo T. Jose shared the meaningful events and history of the Landing in Mariveles, serving as a reminder of the heroism and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for the freedom of the town.

The Tanghalang Tatsulok play that recreated the events of the Landing in Mariveles provided a glimpse of the historical moments that shaped the town of Mariveles and the country.

The ceremony also coincided with the Zero Kilometer Death March Marker Rehabilitation Launching Ceremony, a testament to the continued protection of historical heritage that mirrors the bravery and sacrifice of the heroes at the Zero Kilometer Death March Marker.

Mayor Concepcion expressed his gratitude to the people of Mariveles for participating and commemorating the Landing in Mariveles, proving that the heroes of the past and the history of the town are still alive and well in the hearts of the people.
