The Philippine military maintains that troop morale remains steady despite ongoing tensions in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), according to a Navy spokesperson.
Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, speaking in a radio interview on Sunday, said service members understand their responsibilities and remain focused on their mandate.
“Hindi sila na-low morale. Hindi sila nalulungkot,” Trinidad said, adding that personnel are aware of the issues surrounding the WPS and are not affected by the ongoing exchanges related to the dispute.
He emphasized that military forces continue to perform their duties, noting that troops stationed in operational areas have a clear understanding of their role.
Trinidad also urged the public to remain mindful of narratives surrounding the WPS issue, stressing that the dispute should not be viewed as a conflict among Filipinos.
The Navy, he said, continues to carry out maritime patrols and capability development efforts as part of its operational responsibilities.
