The Police Regional Office MIMAROPA (PRO-4B) on Sunday announced the arrest of a 61-year-old Korean national wanted under an Interpol Red Notice during a coordinated operation in Oriental Mindoro.
In a statement, MIMAROPA police chief Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua Jr. identified the suspect as Hae Jung Chun, who is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice dated 30 September.
The notice stems from warrants issued by the Changwon District Court and the Seoul Central District Court in the Republic of Korea for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act and the Electronic Financial Transactions Act.
Badua said Chun was arrested at around 9:27 a.m. on Saturday in Barangay Sabang, Puerto Galera. The arrest was carried out pursuant to a Warrant of Deportation issued by the Bureau of Immigration for being a fugitive from justice.
The regional police chief emphasized that the operation highlights strengthened inter-agency coordination and sustained intelligence-driven efforts against transnational crime.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: fugitives have no safe haven in MIMAROPA. We will relentlessly pursue those who evade justice and continue coordinating with national agencies and international partners to ensure they are located, arrested, and properly processed,” Badua said.
The arrested foreign national is now under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit for documentation and processing prior to deportation, in accordance with established procedures.
