BAGUIO CITY — Anti-illegal drug operatives from the Police Regional Office–Cordillera seized more than P6 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested one suspect in separate operations conducted in Benguet, Kalinga, and Baguio City on 12 February 2026.
In Benguet, authorities discovered 30,180 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated standard drug price of P6,036,000. The operation covered 14 plantation sites located in Barangay Kayapa in Bakun, and Barangays Tacadang, Poblacion, and Badeo in Kibungan.
The joint operation was carried out by various units of the Benguet Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, the Special Action Force, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Cordillera.
In Kalinga province, a joint team from the Tinglayan and Pasil Municipal Police Stations, along with provincial intelligence units and PDEA-Kalinga, discovered 4,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P800,000. The plants were found in a plantation in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
All marijuana plants discovered in both provinces were uprooted and burned on-site. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to locate additional plantations and identify those responsible for cultivating the illegal crops.
Meanwhile, in Baguio City, a 31-year-old man classified as a street-level individual was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kayang Hilltop.
Police said the suspect was apprehended after selling 0.8 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P5,440.
The suspect and the confiscated evidence were brought to Police Station 7 for documentation and proper disposition. He will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
