The Philippine National Police confirmed that the driver involved in the incident that led to a 23-year old male student’s death at LRT-1’s Fernando Poe Jr. station is subject to investigation this Thursday morning.

In an interview with DZRH, one of the officers concerned with reviewing the case said that they are arranging documents to launch an inquest into the driver’s potential liability to a crime.

The officer also mentioned that the driver identified by the Quezon Police District as alias ‘Albert’ may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

According to Article 365 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, such a case may be filed on an individual for a voluntary or unintentional act done without malice that results in death. If proven guilty, a suspect may face between two to six years imprisonment.

In a separate statement by the Quezon City Police District on Wednesday, witnesses on the scene said that they saw the victim fall to the ground before coming into contact with Albert's MG5 Sedan along EDSA.

The victim was immediately pronounced dead by authorities who promptly responded to the scene while Albert was placed under the custody of the QCPD for further investigation.
