Four Aeta centenarians received P100,000 cash gifts Wednesday during a ceremony at the Capas Events Center, part of a national effort to expand social protection for indigenous and isolated elderly Filipinos.
Senior Citizens Partylist Representative Rodolfo Ordanes joined the National Commission of Senior Citizens to personally present the grants. The awards were issued under the Expanded Centenarians Act, which mandates financial recognition for Filipinos reaching the age of 100.
The recipients also received felicitation letters from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., honoring their contributions to their communities.
Ordanes said the event underscores his party-list’s commitment to ensuring government benefits reach vulnerable sectors, particularly those in indigenous and geographically isolated areas.
“Recognizing centenarians is not only a celebration of longevity but also a commitment to provide meaningful, timely support that improves their quality of life,” Ordanes said.
The lawmaker added that his office will continue to advocate for increased funding and stronger implementation of healthcare and financial assistance programs for seniors nationwide.
