After years away from teleseryes, James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo are returning to the small screen. The two actors are set to reunite in the upcoming series Someone, Someday that also brings Maja Salvador into the mix, promising star-studded chemistry, heartfelt drama and even original music from James himself.
Fans of Kathryn may remember her last series, 2 Good 2 Be True, which aired in 2022 and marked her first project with Netflix. While the transition back to television has been gradual, Kathryn is embracing the process with patience and professionalism. “Doing a series is a bit different from doing a movie,” she explained. “There’s a bit of warming up, but I can say that I’m still getting to know my character day by day. I’m just being patient with myself.”
The series also marks a return for James Reid, who candidly admitted that nerves played a role in stepping back into teleserye territory after several years. “Coming into this role, there’s been a lot of nerves because it’s been seven years or more since my last teleserye,” he revealed. Despite the initial jitters, James is enthusiastic about the project and the opportunity to connect with his character, Jordan.
James shared: “Jordan is a true best friend. He’s always there for you, always has your back, and never lets you down. I’m lucky to have someone like that in my life, so I can really connect with him.” The character’s passion for music also resonates deeply with him, who is contributing creatively to the series beyond acting. “I’m also writing one of the songs for the show,” he added, giving fans a glimpse of the musical element that will enrich the storyline.
Both Kathryn and James describe the process of stepping back into their roles as a balance between excitement and rediscovery. For Kathryn, it’s about getting reacquainted with the rhythm of a series, building her character slowly and thoughtfully. For James, it’s about relishing the chance to embody someone whose loyalty and love for music mirror aspects of his own life.
Someone, Someday, is a series that dives into dating, connection and vulnerability in the age of apps and online relationships. It will be available on the platform 72 hours before it airs on free TV.
