Beginning this February, Dorchester Collection’s Hotel Principe di Savoia opens Il Salotto to a new photographic exhibition by internationally acclaimed photographer and director Zach Gold, presenting a carefully curated selection of his most arresting works.
Gold is celebrated for imagery defined by vibrant color palettes and striking contrasts. His photographs feature bold styling and theatrical poses influenced by pop culture, music video aesthetics, and a distinctly futuristic imagination. Incandescent reds, electric blues, and fluorescent yellows collide and interact, turning color into a central narrative force and creating a visual language that blends glamour, surrealism, and spectacle.
Born in 1972 and based in Los Angeles, Gold is a Fine Arts graduate of Parsons School of Design and gained early recognition in 1997 when the New York Art Directors Club named him among the 100 top New York artists under 35. His pioneering use of digital photographic manipulation helped shape contemporary visual practices at a time when the medium was rapidly evolving.
The International Center of Photography later recognized him as “one of the leaders in creating imaginative imagery,” awarding him Young Photographer of the Year in 2000. His work was subsequently featured during New York Fashion Week in the exhibition “10 Photographers Changing Photography,” further cementing his influence on global visual culture.
Gold’s photographs and short films have been exhibited at major institutions and festivals, including the Brooklyn Museum, MOCA Los Angeles, the Centre Pompidou, and the Rotterdam Film Festival. His work forms part of the permanent collection of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and includes acclaimed projects such as “Killer Heels,” developed with curator Lisa Small for the Brooklyn Museum.
Through this exhibition, Hotel Principe di Savoia continues its commitment to art and culture, transforming its spaces into destinations of cultural exchange. By integrating artistic initiatives into the guest experience, the hotel reinforces its position as a living canvas where luxury, creativity, and contemporary vision converge.
