Nearly two decades after its original release, The Bloomfields’ 2007 single “Ale” has made a remarkable comeback, sparking excitement among long-time fans and drawing in a whole new audience.
The track recently topped TikTok’s Trending Sounds chart, landed second on Spotify Philippines’ Viral 50, and debuted at no. 74 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100.
The resurgence began quietly in November 2025, coinciding with the band’s 2025 single “Balikan,” which shares a similarly nostalgic tone.
Louie Poco, bassist and vocalist of The Bloomfields, reflects on the phenomenon: “It’s amazing how a song from 2007 suddenly connects with people all over again. By December, we were seeing it pop up everywhere — videos of outfits, trips, and everyday moments. It was completely natural, just the song finding its way into people’s lives again.”
“At first, we thought it might be a fleeting moment,” Louie recalls. “But by January, it had clearly grown into something bigger, evolving into a full-fledged dance challenge that people couldn’t get enough of.”
The unexpected revival has reinvigorated the band, reaffirming their love for making music and pride in their contribution to Filipino pop culture.
“Moments like this remind us why we keep creating,” Louie says. “It’s inspiring to see both longtime fans and younger audiences embracing our music. It motivates us to continue crafting new songs and giving classic OPM hits the recognition they deserve.”
Riding the wave of the song’s viral success, The Bloomfields are preparing to release new material, including original tracks and covers of OPM favorites. A long-awaited album, nearly three years in the making, is also set to drop soon.
“It’s our way of celebrating where we started while embracing where our music is headed,” Louie adds.
