Will Bol ball for Tropang 5G?

TNT is taking advantage of the unlimited height of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup to bring in 7-foot-3 center Bol Bol.

Although the Tropang 5G has yet to make a formal announcement on tapping the former Phoenix Suns big man, the addition of Bol will give the Chot Reyes-mentored squad a strong inside presence for its title defense.

DAILY TRIBUNE reached out to team manager Jojo Lastimosa on Saturday to confirm the signing of the son of former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Manute Bol. The TNT official, however, declined to give confirmation.

“I’ll be releasing an official statement on our social media,” he said.

No statement was released as of press time.

TNT won the title last year at the expense of Barangay Ginebra behind resident reinforcement Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

The three-time Best Import winner, however, suffered an Achilles’ heel injury last December while playing for Meralco in the East Asia Super League.

Bol, picked 44th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat but was immediately traded to the Denver Nuggets.

He spent one season with the Orlando Magic in 2022 before signing with the Suns in 2023.
