DAVAO CITY — The V-League Mindanao opened its elimination round at the Davao City Recreation Center, formerly the Almendras Gym, in partnership with the Davao Athletic Schools Foundation Inc. (DASAFI).

V-League VisMin Commissioner Ken Ucang said the champions in both the men’s and women’s divisions will represent Mindanao in the 2026 V-League National Finals on an all-expenses-paid trip.

“For now, because this is still our first venture in Mindanao, we have to host it in Davao City through DASAFI. In the coming years, we will hold elimination rounds in other key cities in Mindanao,” Ucang said during the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association Forum.

Ten teams are competing in the V-League Mindanao/Davao leg, which began on 4 February. Matches are being played every Wednesday and Friday.

“The competition, both men’s and women’s, is very stiff, making it hard to determine the favorite to win this year’s title,” said Abet Bernan, technical director of the V-League Mindanao/Davao leg. “These school-based teams are determined to win and are aiming to earn a slot in the national finals.”

The Mindanao/Davao leg is the second stop of the V-League VisMin series, which opened in Cebu last month.

“Succeeding legs will be held in Western Visayas,” Ucang added. (Jon Develos)
