Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso broke ground Friday on a new building for the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Allied Health Sciences, thanking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the national government’s support of the project.
The ceremony, held within the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center complex, marks the start of a facility designed to significantly expand the city’s capacity to train medical professionals. Domagoso said the project aligns with national goals to strengthen healthcare delivery through hospital-based education.
“Mr. President, I sincerely thank you for your continued help and support to the local government — not just in Manila, but across the country,” Domagoso said during his welcome remarks.
The mayor assured Marcos that the facility would be completed on schedule, citing the city’s history of finishing large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila and several high-rise housing developments, during the pandemic.
Domagoso noted that the investment would allow the university to increase its student capacity from 300 to 5,000 annually.
“This investment will produce 5,000 students for your nation-building approach,” Domagoso told the president. “It is worth every penny of the taxpayers’ money.”
