Police in Quezon City have taken eight of the city’s most wanted suspects into custody following a series of operations conducted over five days, authorities said Thursday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the arrests were carried out by various police stations under the supervision of QCPD chief Col. Randy Glenn Silvio.

"I praise the operations on successfully arresting these wanted persons," Silvio said in Filipino. "The public can expect that the QCPD will continue to lay down the law to people who violate it."

Among those arrested was alias “Venchito,” identified by the National Capital Region Police Office as the region’s third most wanted person. He was arrested by the District Anti-Carnapping Unit on Feb. 2 along Urbano Street in Barangay San Bartolome, Quezon City. The 48-year-old faces warrants for qualified rape and acts of lasciviousness issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 107.

Police also served an arrest warrant on alias “Armando,” also 48, the city’s third most wanted suspect, at the New Bilibid Prison on Feb. 1. He is facing charges of rape by sexual assault and qualified rape under a Regional Trial Court warrant.

On Jan. 31, officers from the La Loma Police Station arrested alias “Ronnie,” wanted for robbery, and alias “John,” who faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while both were at the station’s custodial facility.

That same day, police from the Batasan Police Station arrested the city’s second most wanted suspect, alias “Ronald,” near the Phildaf Building in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City. He is wanted on a rape charge issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte. The same station also arrested alias “Lito,” 53, who faces a separate rape charge under a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 84.

Police said two other suspects, identified as alias “Mark Joseph” and alias “Arnold,” were also arrested for robbery and violations of the dangerous drugs law, respectively.

QCPD said the courts that issued the warrants have been notified of the suspects’ arrests.
