Two matches await Filipina tennis star Alex Eala tonight as she continues her run at the WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open.

Eala advanced to the singles quarterfinals after a come-from-behind victory over Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, pulling off a 2–6, 6–4, 7–6 (5) win on 4 February.

The 20-year-old displayed grit in the deciding set, erasing a 0–4 deficit to turn the match in her favor.

First up, the world No. 45 faces world No. 11 Ekaterina Alexandrova in the singles quarterfinals before shifting to doubles action later in the day with Indonesian partner Janice Tjen.

Eala and Tjen will test their Southeast Asian pairing against second-seeded Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and China’s Shuai Zhang.

The first-time doubles partners advanced after eking out a 7–5, 3–6, 10–6 victory over France’s Kristina Mladenovic and Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

Alexandrova reached the quarterfinals with a dominant 6–3, 6–0 win over Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the round of 16.

The 31-year-old reached a career-high world ranking of No. 10 in October 2025. She owns five WTA Tour singles titles and three WTA 125 titles, in addition to seven singles crowns on the ITF Circuit.
