The House of Representatives has suspended Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco Barzaga for another 60 days.
During a plenary session on Wednesday, the House adopted the recommendation of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges with 238 affirmative votes, 10 against, and nine abstentions.
"After a thorough deliberation [...], the committee finds that respondent Barzaga [...] committed repeated, escalating misconduct during the period of his suspension from office during 1 December 2025 to 30 January 2026 which reflected negatively upon the dignity, integrity, and reputation of the House of Representatives as an institution and of the members of the House", 4Ps Rep. JC Abalos, the chairman of the committee, said at the plenary before the recommendation was put to a vote.
The suspension, without payment of salary and allowances, is effective immediately.
