The Northern Luzon Naval Command (NLNC) delivered 15.6 tons of rolling cargoes to Calayan Island on 1 February, bolstering logistics support for ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in the island municipality.
The shipment was transported aboard the BRP Waray (LC-288) and offloaded at Barangay Poblacion, Calayan Island.
Naval authorities said the cargo included one unit of backhoe/excavator (four-cylinder), two units of Hilux Tamaraw vehicles, three patient transport vehicles, and two L300 vans.
The rolling assets are expected to play a key role in the implementation and completion of priority construction projects in the municipality. Officials said the newly delivered equipment and vehicles will also help improve the delivery of basic services, enhance public safety operations, and support overall local development.
The operation forms part of the NLNC’s continuing efforts to provide logistical assistance to government agencies and local government units, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The command reiterated its commitment to sustaining transport and sealift operations that contribute to national development and improve access to essential services for island communities.
