Tropical Cyclone Basyang is expected to bring heavy rainfall across large parts of the Visayas and Mindanao over the next few days from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening, 5 February, according to the report of Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services, Administration (PAGASA).

Rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters is forecast over Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Caraga provinces, parts of Northern Mindanao, and the Davao Region.

The heavy rains will expand from Thursday evening to Friday evening 6 February, affecting Eastern and Central Visayas, Negros Island, Siquijor, additional areas of Mindanao including Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao provinces, and Bukidnon, with the same rainfall range expected.

Rainfall may be more intense in mountainous areas, and flooding or landslides could worsen due to earlier rains.
