Retired police officer rules ALTA Golf Cup

A retired police officer shone to conquer the inaugural ALTA Golf Cup at the Aoki Course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias City last Thursday.

Nelson Yabut, a 65-year-old former member of the Manila Police District, carded a 70 with two birdies and a par to win the Class A Division of the event dubbed as “Swing for a Cause” that serves as a fund-raising project for the sports development program of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

University of Perpetual Help Medical Center president Richard Antonio congratulated Yabut and other winners and extended his gratitude to all those who participated in the event that was part of the school’s 50th foundation anniversary this year.

Jesus Valle emerged as 1st runner-up after firing a 70 with two birdies and nine pars while Michael Pizarro settled for the 2nd runner-up honor with an 81 built on two birdies and eight pars to round out the Class A winners. 

“I congratulate all the winners, participating teams, and individuals on this sports project of University of Perpetual Help Las Piñas and sponsors who supported this project,” Antonio said during the awarding ceremony graced by Perpetual Las Piñas City campus director Dr. Arnaldo De Guzman, Perpetual Graduate School Dean Dr. Eduardo Zialcita, DELTA Executive Academic Audit and Accreditation Center executive director Dr. Lorelie Siy, and Alumni Affairs head Liwanag Elizares.

In Class B, Allen Aquino reigned supreme, firing a 71 while Jose Almero and Ronnie Henares settled for the second and third places with identical 72s.
