The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is giving innovation a practical spin by addressing the housing backlog by completing unfinished projects.
It ordered on Friday the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) to fast-track the completion of long-stalled housing projects in Caloocan City and incorporate improvements under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.
The move was aimed at ending more than a decade of waiting by the beneficiaries and avoiding further deterioration of the housing projects.
During actual inspection in Barangays Bagumbong and Camarin, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling instructed SHFC president Federico Laxa to hasten the completion and improvement of the three housing programs in Caloocan City for the benefit of around 5,000 individuals.
“In line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive for faster public service, these projects must be continued and completed as soon as possible so our beneficiaries can immediately benefit from them,” Aliling said.
“Let’s not drag this out any longer. Instead, let’s finally end the more than decade-long wait of our fellow citizens by speeding up not only the completion but also the improvement of these projects,” he added.
End to long wait
Aliling and Laxa led the inspection of the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and the HopeVille Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc., both in Barangay Bagumbong, and the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Barangay Camarin.
The two projects in Barangay Bagumbong were approved in 2014 and 2015, while the Barangay Camarin project was approved in 2014. The three projects comprise 35 low-rise buildings.
Based on a recent inspection, the project sites and housing units were found to require refurbishment due to prolonged work stoppages for various reasons.
Aliling vowed full support for SHFC in completing and improving the projects.
“Let us enhance these projects to help ensure a more progressive and dignified way of life for our beneficiaries under the Expanded 4PH program of President Marcos Jr,” Aliling vowed.
