DHSUD orders fast-track completion of stalled Caloocan housing projects

DT

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Friday ordered the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) to immediately fast-track the completion and improvement of long-stalled housing projects in Caloocan City, some of which have remained unfinished for more than a decade.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling issued the directive during an inspection of housing sites in Barangays Bagumbong and Camarin, instructing SHFC President Federico Laxa to hasten the completion of three housing projects that will benefit around 5,000 individuals.

The projects will also be incorporated into President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, with the goal of ending prolonged delays and preventing further deterioration of housing units.

Aliling and Laxa inspected the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and HopeVille Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc. in Barangay Bagumbong, as well as the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Barangay Camarin.

The two projects in Barangay Bagumbong were approved in 2014 and 2015, while the Barangay Camarin project was approved in 2014. In total, the three housing developments consist of 35 low-rise buildings.

Inspection findings showed that the housing units and project sites require refurbishing due to prolonged work stoppages caused by various factors.

Aliling said the DHSUD would provide full support to SHFC to ensure the completion and upgrading of the projects.

“Papagandahin natin ang mga proyektong ito para sa mas maunlad and mas may dignidad na pamumuhay para sa ating mga beneficiaries sa ilalim ng Expanded 4PH ng ating Pangulong Marcos Jr.,” he said.
