The Manila Police District (MPD) is conducting a parallel investigation into the arrest of six personnel from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Malate Police Station (PS-9) over an alleged robbery incident, district officials said.

The MPD, led by District Director PBGen. Arnold E. Abad, disclosed that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Investigation Management Division (CIDG-IMD) is handling the probe.

Reports said the incident occurred on January 28, 2026, at around 8:10 p.m. inside the Malate Police Station along A. Mabini Street in Malate, Manila.

The six SDEU personnel—one Police Staff Sergeant and five patrolmen—were arrested by operatives of the Makati City Police through a hot pursuit operation. The suspects were later positively identified by the victims.

Authorities have secured pertinent documents related to the case, including the SDEU coordination form for the MPD area of responsibility dated January 28, 2026, as well as notices to explain issued to the immediate supervisor and the arrested personnel.

The MPD also confirmed that a relief order has been implemented against the station commander and all members of the SDEU of PS-9. All involved personnel are currently undergoing investigation.

“We assure the public that erring police officers will not be tolerated. Appropriate charges will be filed, and this matter will be elevated to the proper authorities,” Abad said.
