A lawmaker is calling for a new suspension against Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga, seeking to withhold his allowance and salary amid allegations that he continues to flout House rules despite an ongoing suspension.

Manila 2nd District Rep. Rolando Valeriano of the National Unity Party (NUP) said Barzaga’s actions — carried out through his official congressional platforms — are a clear violation of Section 141 of Rule 20 of the House rules.

“His continued defiance must be addressed immediately,” Valeriano said. “He already violated the sanction imposed on him. I will move in the next ethics committee hearing for a stiffer penalty to teach him a lesson.”

Barzaga came under fire after accusing NUP congressmen of taking bribes from businessman Enrique Razon before the 2025 elections in exchange for backing former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Valeriano labeled the claim a “huge lie.”

The lawmaker, along with House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno and Razon himself, has filed separate cyber libel complaints against Barzaga. Valeriano also cited Barzaga’s social media posts accusing the late congressman Romeo Acop of involvement in flood control corruption.
