After months of silence and speculation, Derek Ramsay is speaking from a place he says he has finally found again—peace.
In a candid sit-down on the vlog of Morly Alinio, the actor opened up about the personal storms he has weathered, how they forced him to slow down, and why self-care and family have now become his non-negotiables.
“I’m at peace. Hindi na ako mukhang haggard. Bumalik na ‘yung katawan ko at bumalik na ‘yung focus ko to take care of myself again. I’m at peace,” Ramsay shared, sounding lighter than he has in recent months.
That calm, he admitted, did not come easily. Life, he said, shifted overnight—pushing him to reexamine priorities and strip everything down to what truly matters.
“Ang dami kong pinagdadaanan so pinili ko na lang kung ano ‘yung kailangan ko. Maging super strong para sa daddy ko, sa mommy ko,” he said, adding that his parents’ health has made time feel more precious than ever. “Life can just change overnight. I’m trying to spend as much time as I can with them and just enjoy.”
A Chapter He Never Planned to Reopen
Part of that recalibration includes a return to acting—something Ramsay once believed he had already closed the door on after marrying Ellen Adarna.
“Talagang ayaw ko na [bumalik]. Talagang nandoon na ‘yung utak ko. I was very happy, six years,” he said. “Sabi ko naman sa inyo, kapag nagpakasal ako, ‘yun na ang focus ko.”
For Ramsay, the decision back then was clear and uncomplicated. “Ganoon ako sa kahit anong bagay na gawin ko—masaya ako roon, talagang sobrang masaya ako. That was an easy decision,” he explained.
He never stopped loving the craft, but he was content with the life he had chosen. Until everything changed.
“Mahal ko ang craft ko pero I was excited for this chapter of my life and super content na ako,” he said. “And then, like I said, life can change so quickly overnight. Talagang I faced a very difficult storm.”
What followed, he believes, was providence. “Binigyan ako ni Lord ng blessing na isa pang project. I just took it as a sign that I should take it. So I said, dito ko idi-direct ‘yung focus ko.”
That project became his way back into the industry, marking his return through the series The Kingdom—a comeback he approached with nerves, humility, and a sense of rediscovery.
Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
Ramsay acknowledged that the past year has not been without controversy, noting that he will address the issues surrounding his separation from Adarna in the second part of the vlog. For now, however, he is choosing to stay grounded in the present.
What comes through most clearly in his words is not defensiveness, but resolve—a man learning to sit with uncertainty while rebuilding strength from the inside out.
At this point in his life, Derek Ramsay isn’t chasing noise, headlines, or validation. He’s choosing peace, showing up for family, and carefully finding his footing again—on his own terms.
