4PH revival eyed for 5,000 families

Around 5,000 families are set to benefit from a new approach under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling has tasked the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) with reviving stalled urban housing projects under this new modality.

“In line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide more dignified housing for our kababayans, we are bringing stalled projects back to life and improving them so they can be used immediately,” Secretary Aliling said.

He added, “The DHSUD, together with our attached agencies, continues to expand the Expanded 4PH so more Filipino families can achieve their dream of owning a home.”

The SHFC initially identified three stalled vertical housing projects (VHPs) in Caloocan City to be revived under the program: the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and Hopeville Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc., both in Bagumbong, and Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Camarin.

These projects were originally approved during President Noynoy Aquino’s administration, targeting 1,422 families, mostly informal settlers.

The three projects, made up of 35 low-rise buildings, were never fully completed. SHFC will now improve the sites, adding open spaces and essential facilities.

“Our kababayans have been waiting over a decade for these housing units,” Aliling said. “By the orders of President Marcos Jr., we will speed up and improve these projects to ensure the safety and security of the beneficiaries.”

He added, “You can expect more similar projects to be awarded to families under President Marcos Jr.’s Expanded 4PH.”
