Global digital infrastructure provider Vertiv on 27 January launched a new prefabricated overhead infrastructure portfolio aimed at accelerating the deployment of data centers across Asia, as operators face growing demand driven by cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

The company announced the global rollout of Vertiv SmartRun, a modular overhead system that integrates power distribution busbar, liquid cooling piping, hot-aisle containment, and network infrastructure into a single scalable solution. The system is designed to support faster data center fit-outs for both new facilities and retrofit projects, particularly for colocation and hyperscale operators.

Vertiv said SmartRun reduces installation complexity through prefabricated assembly, plug-and-play design, and a one-lift installation process. According to the company, the system can be deployed up to 85 percent faster on-site compared to traditional stick-build methods, enabling installations of more than one megawatt per day using a single crew.

The solution also addresses rising power densities and cooling challenges associated with AI workloads by integrating a secondary fluid network into its design. Prefabricated stainless steel piping is intended to simplify liquid cooling deployment while providing end-to-end support for high-density environments.

“Across Asia, data center operators are under intense pressure to scale rapidly while managing space constraints, labor availability, and rising power densities driven by AI and cloud growth,” said Tony Gaunt, vice president for products and solutions at Vertiv Asia.

“Vertiv SmartRun addresses these challenges by enabling faster, more predictable deployments with prefabricated, integrated overhead infrastructure.”

Vertiv added that SmartRun is supported by its global services network, including Vertiv Liquid Cooling Services, which provides installation, maintenance, and optimization support for liquid-cooled infrastructure to ensure long-term reliability.

The solution was unveiled to the Asian market during SCA/HPCAsia 2026 in Osaka, Japan, where Vertiv participated as a platinum sponsor. The company said the event highlighted how integrated, prefabricated infrastructure can help accelerate the rollout of AI-ready and high-performance computing data centers across the region.
