Pasig village bags top DILG award for ‘complete package’ governance

Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City has secured a sweep of all seven governance categories in the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB).

The village also received a special award for Best Documentation Practices during an awards ceremony last 22 December at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City.

To earn the SGLGB, Barangay San Antonio met criteria across seven areas: financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, peace and order, social protection, business-friendliness, environmental management, and youth development.

Barangay chairperso Raymond Lising credited the recognition to the unified efforts of the village council, the Sangguniang Kabataan, and community stakeholders.

“It is a big factor that our councils and workforce are united,” Lising said. “It is truly important that we are aligned toward a common goal.”

Lising noted that maintaining proper records was the most difficult part of the evaluation process. He stressed that documentation is not just a bureaucratic requirement but a tool for measuring the real-world impact of government programs.

“If there is no proper documentation, even if we are full of action or work, it cannot be measured in terms of impact on our community,” Lising said.

He added that recording every output plays a major role in ensuring transparency and accountability at the local level.

In preparation for the assessment, the village strengthened its internal record-keeping systems and developed new community programs. Despite the accolades, Lising said the satisfaction of residents remains the primary metric for success.

“Personally, these awards are just a bonus,” Lising said. “The most important thing is the feedback and satisfaction of our residents regarding our service.”

Lising said the recognition serves as an inspiration to sustain reforms and maintain a “complete package” of governance across all departments moving forward.
