More than 90 percent of employees of Maynilad Water Services Inc. participated in the company’s “Walk the Line” field activities in 2025, reinforcing efforts to reduce water loss and improve service reliability across the West Zone.

With support from local government units and barangay officials, the initiative covered 199 locations in 12 cities, spanning more than 1,070 kilometers of pipelines. The field deployments led to over 1,700 actual leak repairs, helping accelerate leak detection and response on the ground.

Maynilad said the program is part of its broader push to cut Non-Revenue Water and strengthen water recovery operations.

“Walk the Line encourages employees from all levels to see, firsthand, the challenges our technical teams face on the ground. It’s a chance to help detect leaks, inspect pipelines, and identify signs of water loss,” said Central NRW Head Engr. Ryan B. Jamora. “Their observations and reports helped surface issues faster and contributed meaningfully to our field operations.”

The monthly activities also aim to deepen employee understanding of water loss management while fostering a culture of sustainability and accountability within the organization.

“The ‘Walk the Line’ initiative reflects Maynilad’s commitment to responsible water stewardship. It shows how every individual—regardless of role—can make a real contribution toward sustainable resource management,” said Chief Sustainability Officer Atty. Roel S. Espiritu.

Maynilad said the program complements its wider NRW reduction strategy, which includes active leak detection, pressure management, pipe rehabilitation, and community engagement. The company added that employee involvement plays a critical role in ensuring long-term water security for its customers.
