A fire that broke out at a commercial establishment inside the Metrowalk Commercial Complex in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City on Sunday afternoon caused an estimated P1 million in damage, the Pasig City Central Fire Station said Monday.
Fire officials said no fatalities were reported, while investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze.
“Walang namatay. Nasa investigators pa namin at hindi pa malalaman today ang cause,” the Pasig City Central Fire Station told the Daily Tribune.
Based on reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire was reported at around 2:19 p.m. along Meralco Avenue, prompting authorities to raise the first alarm minutes later.
As the flames intensified and spread within the commercial area, a second alarm was declared at about 2:26 p.m.
Firefighters placed the blaze under control at around 3:02 p.m., and after more than an hour of operations, it was declared fully extinguished at about 3:26 p.m.
Emergency response teams, including a fire truck and an ambulance from the Philippine Red Cross National Headquarters, were deployed to assist in firefighting operations and ensure public safety in the busy commercial district.
