Some 8,757 passengers, 2,769 rolling cargoes, 11 vessels, and seven motorbancas were stranded, while 33 vessels took shelter as Tropical Storm Ada battered parts of the country.
A report by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) dated 18 January 2026 showed that in Eastern Visayas, the ports of Sta. Clara, Dapdap, and Looc served as refuge for 2,006 passengers and 460 rolling cargoes.
In the Bicol Region, the ports of Matnog, Pilar, Castilla, Mobo, Masbate, Aroroy, Tabaco, Pioduran, Bacacay, Pasacao, Virac, and San Andres sheltered 6,171 passengers, 2,280 rolling cargoes, and three vessels, while 31 vessels remained taking shelter across the region.
In Southern Tagalog, the ports of San Andres, Real, Romblon, and Lucena became refuge for 580 passengers, 29 rolling cargoes, eight vessels, and seven motorbancas, with two additional vessels taking shelter.
Meanwhile, Deployable Response Groups of Coast Guard Station Catanduanes, Coast Guard sub-stations, mobile teams, and OPCON units continue to respond to residents affected by Tropical Storm Ada, as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains raised in Catanduanes.
PCG said operations are focused on search and rescue and humanitarian assistance, particularly for stranded residents and those affected by flooding due to continuous rainfall.
The Coast Guard said it aims to ensure the safety, security, and immediate assistance of people in affected areas. Coast Guard Station Catanduanes is closely coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, municipal disaster offices, local government units, and other concerned agencies to ensure preparedness, rapid response, and public safety as adverse weather persists.
