Woman shot while livestreaming online selling in Taytay, Rizal

A shocking crime unfolded online after a 23-year-old woman was shot in the head while livestreaming her online selling business in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal, on Thursday night, 15 January.

The victim, identified by police as alias Paloma, is currently fighting for her life in the hospital, while authorities are pursuing the suspect, a 31-year-old man identified as alias Freddie, a resident of Angono, Rizal.

Based on police investigation, the shooting occurred at around 7:30 p.m. along Kenneth Road, Purok 4, in Taytay.

Authorities said the victim was tending a vegetable stall while simultaneously livestreaming when the suspect suddenly approached her from behind. Without saying a word, the suspect shot the woman at close range.

After the shooting, the suspect fled on foot toward the direction of Lupang Arenda.

At around 9:30 p.m., the duty desk officer of the Taytay Municipal Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen. The victim was immediately rushed to Pasig City General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

“We are still determining the exact motive of the crime, especially since information recovered shows that the victim was broadcasting live when the shooting occurred,” police said in a preliminary report.

The suspect is facing a charge of frustrated murder, while a manhunt operation remains underway for his arrest.
