From 1975 to forever: The legend of Galleria Duemila continues

The gallery will host curator-led tours and artist spotlights through March, reaffirming its pivotal role in the evolution and discourse of Philippine modernism.

In a grand celebration of heritage and vision, Galleria Duemila marks a golden milestone, honoring 50 years of Philippine modern art with the landmark exhibition Avanti, Sempre Avanto/Forward, Always Forward.

Curated with the discerning eye of Angel Velasco-Shaw, the retrospective opened on 10 January, offering a masterful survey of works spanning from the 1950s to the early 2000s.

The vernissage at 210 Loring Street, Pasay City was a sophisticated gathering of the art world’s cognoscenti, as collectors and scholars converged to witness a rare assembly of 36 master artists.

Adding a layer of historical intimacy are the archival materials from the private collection of Silvana Ancellotti-Diaz, providing a profound look at the gallery’s storied past since its 1975 founding.
