Fifteen power generation companies have joined the competitive bidding for Manila Electric Company’s 200-megawatt renewable energy baseload supply requirement, the utility said Friday.

The firms participated in the Competitive Selection Process (CSP) and attended the pre-bid conference held January 15 after earlier submitting expressions of interest. The bidders include ACEN Corp., AP Renewable Energy Corp., Bac-Man Geothermal Inc., Energy Development Corp., First Gen Hydro Power Corp., GNPower Kauswagan Ltd. Co., GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co., Green Core Geothermal Inc., Mariveles Power Generation Corp., Negros Island Solar Power Inc., SanMar Solar Inc., Sinocalan Solar Power Corp., Sual Power Inc., Therma Luzon Inc., and Therma Visayas Inc.

“The strong interest from the participating power generation companies affirms the effectiveness of the CSP as a mechanism for securing sufficient and least-cost supply for our customers. We look forward to receiving their offers on the Bid Submission Deadline scheduled on February 16,” said Lawrence S. Fernandez, chairman of Meralco’s Bids and Awards Committee.

The resulting Power Supply Agreement will cover Meralco’s 200-MW renewable baseload requirement to comply with the Renewable Portfolio Standards beginning January 26, 2026, subject to approval by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

Meralco said the CSP aligns with its annual Power Supply Procurement Plan approved by the Department of Energy and follows government rules on open and transparent procurement.
