Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can now renew their driver’s licenses without paying medical and courier fees under a new program announced Wednesday by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said he issued a memorandum establishing the special program to ease the financial and logistical burden on Filipinos working abroad.
The services will be available during caravans hosted by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Migrant Workers in host countries.
Previously, OFWs paid approximately P6,000 for medical exams and international courier services to process their renewals.
Under the new guidelines, the LTO will shoulder the courier costs, delivering the processed licenses to Philippine embassies or overseas labor offices.
