The VinFast VF 6 has been named Value for Money Car of the Year at the Autocar India Awards 2026, adding a major industry recognition to the brand’s growing presence in India.
The annual awards, organized by Autocar India, are among the country’s longest-running automotive honours. Winners are selected by an expert jury and are often seen as benchmarks for buyers weighing practicality, cost, and long-term ownership.
Judges cited the VF 6’s overall balance as a key reason for the win. In a market where buyers remain cautious about pricing and running costs, the compact electric SUV stood out for offering a competitive feature set without crossing the critical sub-Rs 20 lakh price range.
Positioned in the B-segment, the VF 6 is designed for urban use, combining compact dimensions with a solid, contemporary look.
The interior focuses on space efficiency and everyday comfort, with a layout aimed at daily commuting rather than luxury appeal.
Safety and convenience features, including advanced driver assistance systems, were also noted by the jury as important factors in the decision.
VinFast said the award reflects its approach to product development for India, where value, safety, and ease of ownership carry more weight than outright performance figures. The recognition marks another step for the brand as it expands outside Vietnam and builds visibility in key international markets.
VinFast India chief executive Tapan Ghosh said the award showed industry appreciation for electric vehicles that aim to be accessible while still offering modern technology.
Autocar India editor Hormazd Sorabjee said getting the value equation right in India remains difficult, and described the VF 6 as a well-equipped and practical option for its price point.
The win comes as VinFast continues to outline plans for a broader electric vehicle ecosystem in India, covering sales, aftersales support, and charging infrastructure, as competition in the country’s EV market continues to intensify.
