Authorities in Laoag City carried out two anti-illegal drug operations in a single day, arresting two suspects and seizing suspected shabu weighing a combined 8.1 grams on 6 January 2026.
The first operation was conducted at around 8:20 a.m. in Barangay 10, San Jose, by the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit. Police arrested Niño Christopher Santos y Butay, also known as “Topi,” 32, a painter and resident of the area, after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative. Authorities said Santos attempted to flee to his house after sensing he was dealing with police but was quickly apprehended.
Recovered from Santos were several sachets of suspected shabu weighing about one gram, a broken glass fragment with residue, a coin purse, an open sachet, personal cash, and the marked P1,000 buy-bust money. The evidence was inventoried and documented at the scene.
Later in the day, at around 2:14 p.m., the Laoag City Police Station conducted another buy-bust operation in Barangay 13, resulting in the arrest of Robbie Alwin Gajete Allado, 44, a retailer and resident of Barangay 14. Allado allegedly sold a sachet containing about 1.1 grams of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer. Authorities also recovered another sachet weighing about six grams, bringing the total seized drugs in the second operation to approximately 7.1 grams.
Police also confiscated Allado’s sling bag, the marked P1,000 buy-bust money, additional cash, personal belongings, a cellphone containing P5,000, his Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, helmets, and a white-and-violet vibrator found among his possessions.
Both suspects underwent proper documentation and medical examination. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared—Sections 5 and 11 for Allado, and Sections 5, 11, and 12 for Santos.
