Strong Group Athletics landed another scoring gem after signing sought-after grizzled winger Ara Galang to reinforce one of its two clubs with the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference just around the corner.
A champion hitter with unquestionable heart, passion and dedication, Galang will not just bring added firepower to either Farm Fresh or ZUS Coffee but also inject a wealth of experience as both clubs aim for glory in the year-opening tournament unwrapping on 31 January.
“All-around excellence, calm under pressure, and a winner’s mindset — Ara Galang is STRONG!” SGA posted on its social media account on Thursday.
The 31-year-old Galang is headed to her third club in the league following the disbandment of Chery Tiggo last December.
Galang was with F2 Logistics when it joined the league in 2021 before eventually dissolving in 2023.
The De La Salle University product helped the Crossovers to a runner-up finish in the inaugural pre-season On Tour last year.
Her resurgence also earned her the Best Opposite Spiker award in the Invitational Conference, a testament to her versatility after shifting from an outside spiker role.
Galang will give ZUS Coffee, which finished runner-up in the Reinforced Conference, another veteran presence alongside Jovelyn Gonzaga if SGA chooses to bring her to the Thunderbelles.
A transfer to Farm Fresh, which posted a franchise-best 7-1 elimination record before a quarterfinal exit in the import-laden conference, means Galang could return to her natural spot as an opener to complement opposite hitter Trisha Tubu.
The businessman and sports godfather Frank Lao-owned SGA added Galang to its growing family after taking under its wings Mylene Paat, Imee Hernandez, Cess Robles, Renee Peñafiel and Karen Verdeflor from Chery Tiggo, along with Royse Tubino and Bia General from Choco Mucho and Remy Palma and Chie Saet from Petro Gazz.
