The Coast Guard District Bicol has recovered the body of a fisherman who went missing in the waters off Sitio Lipata, Barangay Gogon, Caramoan, Camarines Sur on 5 January 2026.

Personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station Guijalo and CGS Camarines Sur worked closely with the Philippine National Police in Caramoan and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to carry out the retrieval operation. The search was prompted by a report from a concerned resident who spotted the remains, which were later positively identified through tattoo markings.

The recovered body was formally turned over to the victim’s family by Coast Guard Station Camarines Sur, together with CGSS Guijalo and the Coast Guard Special Operations Unit Camarines Sur, in coordination with the MDRRMO of San Andres to ensure proper handling and post-recovery procedures.

The Coast Guard District Bicol emphasized its commitment to protecting lives and property at sea through quick response, close coordination with partner agencies, and continuous maritime monitoring.

The agency also reminded fishermen and boat operators to always check weather conditions before heading out, make sure their vessels are seaworthy, carry complete safety equipment, and strictly follow maritime safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
