Tecon Suape SA (TSSA), part of the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) Group that operates the Suape Container Terminal in Pernambuco, Brazil, has received the 2025 Ocean Friend award for demonstrating environmental leadership.
The award was in recognition of TSSA’s help in protecting marine ecosystems around the Suape Port complex, and in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by implementing systems that enhance energy efficiency and substitute conventional electricity with renewable energy sources, as part of a broader strategy to decarbonize its operations.
“By recognizing our partners, Suape reaffirms its vision that economic development and environmental protection go hand in hand,” said José Constantino, director of port development and management of the awarding organizer Suape Port Industrial Complex.
The 2025 Ocean Friend award for TSSA also reinforces ICTSI’s longstanding strategy of integrating environmental stewardship into every stage of terminal development and daily operations.
