Filipino volleyball fans saw surprising departures and additions to their favorite Premier Volleyball League (PVL) teams just before 2025 ended, with changes continuing into 2026.
Due to their lackluster outings, Choco Mucho announced the exit of Aduke Ogunsanya, Bia General, Royse Tubino, and Cherry Nunag on separate days.
As soon as the clock struck 12, 2026 began, bringing new beginnings for the Flying Titans with the signing of four new players: Alas Pilipinas member Eya Laure, former University of Santo Tomas (UST) standouts Caitlin Viray and Alina Bicar, and former University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroon Jaila Atienza.
Laure will look to share lessons from her national team stints, including the silver-medal finish at the AVC Nations Cup and back-to-back bronze medals at the SEA V.League.
Viray is returning to the 'Ube Nation' following her exit before the start of the 2024 season.
The quartet will be helping the Flying Titans improve after an abysmal outing in their recent conferences where they finished fourth in the All-Filipino Conference, 10th in PVL on Tour, and 11th in the recently concluded Reinforced Conference.
Their sister team, Creamline Cool Smashers, announced changes to their lineup, including the departures of longtime opposite hitter Rizza Mandapat, who won eight championships with the team, and Michelle Morente, who played for a single conference donning pink and white.
No replacements have been announced yet for the Cool Smashers, who are aiming for a championship comeback following a year without titles and a sixth-place finish in the Reinforced Conference.
Meanwhile, Judith Abil also announced her exit from Cignal Super Spikers after a year-and-a-half contract, making her a free agent.
Former UP standout and Petro Gazz veteran Marian Buitre stated she will be closing her chapter as a volleyball player.
Angel Joy Dacoron also hinted at her departure from the team after a year.
Strong Group Athletics (SGA) acquired Royse Tubino, who saw action with Choco Mucho from January 2024 until the end of 2025.
As of the writing, libero Bia General also joined SGA where they will be playing for Farm Fresh Foxies or Zus Coffee Thunderbelles.
