PALO, Leyte — The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) has warned police personnel in Eastern Visayas that a strict “One-Strike Policy” will be enforced against indiscriminate firing of firearms across the region.

PRO-8 Regional Director Jason Capoy said the policy forms part of the Philippine National Police’s heightened security measures for the holiday season and aims to ensure public safety, maintain peace and order, and reinforce discipline within the ranks.

Capoy reminded police personnel to observe the highest level of discipline and professionalism in handling firearms, especially as New Year celebrations approach.

“Any personnel involved will be subject to administrative sanctions in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, as well as criminal liability under Philippine law, without warning or second chances,” he said.

“As we usher in the New Year 2026, I remind all personnel to maintain the highest standards of discipline and adherence to firearm protocols. The One-Strike Policy will be strictly applied to ensure public safety,” Capoy added.
