Bontoc, Mountain Province — One person was killed while five others were injured after a vehicle plunged into a ravine along the Bontoc–Mainit Provincial Road in Sitio Aratey, Barangay Guina-ang, on the evening of 28 December 2025.
The accident occurred at around 8:48 p.m. when a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Cherylina Geston Dalilis veered off the road and fell about 20 meters into a rice field. Dalilis, a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet, was found unconscious at the scene.
She was pronounced dead by the Bontoc Municipal Health Office. Authorities said Dalilis suffered traumatic head injuries that caused her death.
Five passengers were rescued from the wreckage and identified as Eunice Geston-Andaya, Eunark Geston Andaya, Destiny Geston Dalilis, Cleijter Geston Andaya, and Ken Shane Kewan. All were initially brought to Bontoc General Hospital for treatment.
Cleijter Andaya and Ken Shane Kewan were later cleared by attending physicians, while the three other passengers were transferred to the Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace in La Trinidad, Benguet, for further medical care.
Authorities said the vehicle was traveling toward Barangay Mainit at the time of the incident. The Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) is investigating the cause of the crash.
